WebNov 21, 2024 · I have a cisco Catalyst 2960 PoE 24 port switch that sits under my monitor. The problem is that the fan is constantly running at 100%, and it sounds like an aeroplane. I am only using up to 5 of the 24 ports (including the 2 gigabit ones). Would it be ok to remove the fan for this low stress operation. Pull that out and disconnect its standard 3-wire fan plug from the circuit board.

WebJun 30, 2016 · They are controlled by what the current ambient temperature is, and adjust RPM as needed. Some fan trays might have jumpers that allows you to switch between ambient temp control and full speed.
