WebOct 18, 2010 · My 99 300m has had rattles in the past from the brake pad clips that seem to wear out leaving the pads floating in the caliper. The result is a rattle going over bumps. It has just recently started doing that again. Looks like the solution is to stick new pads in there. I'm reluctant to do that as they still have lots of wear still to go. Jun 25, 2013 ·

Inspections showed cracks in the tension strut bushings, but nothing else. Tension struts were replaced but didn't fix the rattle.
